Harney & Sons Japanese Matcha 1 lb
This premium Harney & Sons Japanese Culinary Grade Matcha Tea is the perfect choice to consume in pastries, ice cream, iced teas, smoothies, matcha lattes and other drinks.
It is an excellent source of antioxidants & amino acids, including the most beneficial anti-oxidant EGCg & L-Theanine that are associated with preventing diseases and skin aging. This delicious and healthy tea is also known to detoxify the body, boost the immune system, boost metabolism and promote weight loss, as well as lower cholesterol and blood sugar. The tea increases energy levels and promotes stress relief.
Producing this Harney & Sons Culinary Matcha involves grounding the tea leaves between two stones and air drying which is why the colour of the powder is almost neon green. The process has not changed from centuries ago. The aromas are faint and only discernible from the broth. They offer hints of honeydew melon sweetness over a base note of cooked spinach. Since it comes from air dried teas, there are no notes of toastiness. As the other green tea, this one is also caffeinated. Compared to the ceremonial matcha, the culinary grade matcha has a bit more astringent taste and is great to mix with other ingredients when cooking. Although some people won't mind it as a regular tea drink, we recommend this matcha to be consumed when prepared in pastries, ice cream, smoothies, matcha lattes and other drinks.

I'm a HUGE matcha fan and spend lots on it. When I came upon this company with a pound for this price, I was sold! My only thought was the quality. If I can't see it, how do I know it's good quality? So I took my luck. It's a very nice green tone; doesn't look brown or yellow, and stays green when you make pastes and drinks. It tastes just like how matcha should, bitter. Therefore, GREAT quality :) This is now my go-to matcha instead of the tea shops at the mall, you know the ones! A pound keeps me from having to restock all the time. I can make mu usual 2-3 lattés a day, and bake with it and still have an endless supply for, lets assume it'll last me 2 months. Hahaha!
