Harney & Sons Japanese Matcha 50 g or 112 g
This premium Harney & Sons Japanese Culinary Grade Matcha Tea is the perfect choice to consume in pastries, ice cream, iced teas, smoothies, matcha lattes and other drinks.
It is an excellent source of antioxidants & amino acids, including the most beneficial anti-oxidant EGCg & L-Theanine that are associated with preventing diseases and skin aging. This delicious and healthy tea is also known to detoxify the body, boost the immune system, boost metabolism and promote weight loss, as well as lower cholesterol and blood sugar. The tea increases energy levels and promotes stress relief.
Producing this Harney & Sons Culinary Matcha involves grounding the tea leaves between two stones and air drying which is why the colour of the powder is almost neon green. The process has not changed from centuries ago. The aromas are faint and only discernible from the broth. They offer hints of honeydew melon sweetness over a base note of cooked spinach. Since it comes from air dried teas, there are no notes of toastiness. As the other green tea, this one is also caffeinated. Compared to the ceremonial matcha, the culinary grade matcha has a bit more astringent taste and is great to mix with other ingredients when cooking. Although some people won't mind it as a regular tea drink, we recommend this matcha to be consumed when prepared in pastries, ice cream, smoothies, matcha lattes and other drinks.
If you’re baking or cooking with matcha, we recommend using Culinary Matcha instead of Ceremonial Matcha because otherwise it would be just a waste of money. Knowing that heat destroys amino acid structures (everything that’s great about your expensive ceremonial matcha — its intense umami, its wonderful acid structure, its phytonutrients, and its long finish), culinary matcha is the perfect choice. You still taste great green tea vegetal notes in your desserts or drinks without using the so precious and expensive ceremonial matcha alternative. In addition, many recipes call for matcha in larger quantities, so you should choose, matcha that is still great quality but meant to be used for cooking and blended drinks like the culinary grade Harney & Sons Matcha.

I have been drinking Matcha for about 6 months now. I decided to purchase from Premium Teas and I'm glad I did!
Premium Teas Harney & Sons brand is clearly top quality. The local matcha brands I have purchased from others always had a muddy earthy taste along with a dark brownish green look. Premium Teas brand is a bright green without the earthy taste...and it mixes up with a frothy foam.
